Stein Franken (スタイン・フランケン Sutain Furanken?) is a Pirate and one of the members of the pirate crew, Red Flame Pirates. He is a rather unique pirate, in the sense that he was once a zombie of the Thriller Bark. He was later taken by Dr. Lose, who modified his body and injected him with the juices of the Bara Bara no Mi, that allowed him to gain the abilities of the fruit itself.

The fruit's abilities — Stein punching an enemy through a zig-zag path.

Stein didn't eat the Bara Bara no Mi, and instead, was injected with its juices, allowing him to utilize its abilities. The great advantage Stein gained with this fruit is that he can separate his body parts from each other and make him invulnerable to slicing and cutting attacks.

Because he was modified in a laboratory to serve as a killing machine, Stein uses the Devil Fruit's abilities to reveal his hidden weapons, that consist of mostly cannons.

The major flaw of his Devil Fruit's ability is his feet. They cannot leave the floor like the rest of his body. Buggy may also, despite feeling them at all times, lose pieces of his body, without direct eye sight to guide them back to him, it is impossible, though once he can see them he can easily guide them back. The user is also extremely susceptible to having their body parts grabbed by others, making them lose control of it.
