Kies, the "Gravel Demon" is a pirate captain, as well as the killer of Delta D. Beta. He hails from the South Blue. He currently spends his time in Impel Down, the World Government's maximum security prison.
Appearance[]
Kies is a tall and slim man. He has a rather thick unibrow, sharp eyes, and a devilish grin on his face; this, as well as his Devil Fruit, has contributed to his epithet.
During his attack on Luster Island, seven years ago, he wore an open red shirt over a white colored T-shirt, and black pants. He had a gold earring with a ruby embedded in it, exposed by his short cut hair.
During the Impel Down Arc, being imprisoned in Level 6 Eternal Hell, he wore the standard Impel Down prisoner attire, though he was allowed to keep the earring.
Personality[]
As his epithet, appearance, and bounty poster puts it, he is very well a "demon." His ruthlessness against the personell of G-12 only further supports this fact--he will attack relentlessly until stopped by his crew or by the victim's death.
On top of this he is very sadistic, attacking the G-12 branch just to see people die, and even laughing insanely during the chaotic battle that unfolded. Later, while being transferred to Impel Down, he cried from laughing so hard, which in fact shocked even Vice Admiral Onigumo.

Abilities and Powers[]
Kies possesses a great deal of strength, managing to laugh and fight against Vice Admiral Delta, Rear Admiral Nitro, and Captains Lance and Sakaki at the same time, without faltering. He managed to defeat the two Captains, and even kill the famous Vice Admiral (though he was sufferring from cancer).
Devil Fruit: Jari Jari no Mi[]
Kies has eaten the Jari Jari no Mi, a Logia-class Devil Fruit that allows him to create, become, and control gravel. He seems to possess a fair level of mastery with it, though still affected by Delta's, and later Nitro's Busoshoku Haki.
With this Devil Fruit, he is able to severely wound enemies by shooting endless amounts of gravel like a gatling gun, suffocate them in a huge wave of gravel, or even create escape paths on the ocean.
